Here are some pictures of the mining in progress.  It is taking place at the Allen Property in Greensville County, VA.  Interestingly enough, there is titanium
and many other minerals (ores) in the soil, and that particular mineral is used in many things that everyone uses daily.  This property is from Mom's side of the
family.  John Randolph Allen, and Lelia Doyle (maiden name).  My grandparents,
from Mom's side.

Progress being made on the tailing pond.........Robinson Farm  -11/22/08

We had wondered what the big pile of dirt was on the left of this picture.  It is so much taller than the dam around the pond.
The geologist told us today that the big hill is mineralized dirt that is gonna be mined. -10/31/08

Tailing Pond on Robinson Farm, I guess a work in process. - 10/16/08

Another shot of the work on Robinson.  Note the rocks.  They seem to be using them for one of the dams.  There is a road all around the pond.  I can drive it in my Defender but don't think a regular auto could make it. 10/16/08

Cindy and Thurston at the rock pile on Robinson  - 2008

Cindy got her wheat check and just look at her smiling! - 2008

This is looking into what was once a field to the left of the path
going up to the house. The top soil has been pushed off and
a gravel road cut in the middle to handle heavy trucks
when they unload pipe. -
2008

Note the mineral rich soil. This is the field AFTER the topsoil has been
pushed aside. I was amazed at how much blue sand was there
after the topsoil was removed. I think more under the topsoil
than in the topsoil. -

Little pond in the south west corner of the field. Note it has filled up with
water from the rain last weekend. They must know what they're
doing because there is very little water standing in the field,
it most all ran off into the little pond.
Photos are courtesy of my Uncle, John Allen, Jr., taken 4/24/08.

This is a picture of the road Iluka is building from Independence
Church Road to the plant behind Pinder Lee's house.
I'm standing in our field to take the picture.
Note the nice soybeans in the field to the right.
They are waist high and looking good.
Ours across the road are just about ankle high
and looking bad.  Hope the rain will help us catch up. -  2008

This is a well on the Robinson Farm.  It is named RF1.
There is also RF2, RF3, RF4 and RF5.
Hum, I wonder how the came up with the name RF. - 2008

I don't think they've abandoned the Robinson Farm.  I think they'll still gonna mine it.  It's just that they will have to find some other place to dig their tailing pond.  I guess they can move back closer to the creek or maybe toward the Allen Farm.

The picture is a picture of the rocks they uncovered when they cut away the bushes.  It is really an amazing sight.  Just like there was a line drawn and a bunch of huge rocks dropped down.
The piles just get bigger and bigger.  We do not know how many truck loads they are moving to Stony Creek each day.

From the piles you see, they extract Rutile, Ulminite and Zirconium.  The Rutile is selling almost as fast as they can produce it (so they say).  The Ulminite is selling very slowly and the Zirconium is NOT selling at all.

They will stock pile the stuff that doesn't sell until the market gets stronger.

ABOVE TEXT WAS FROM 9/26/2009~pictures are in "Mining" folder with the date marked...THREE PICTURES

These four pictures were taken by Uncle Buddy Allen.
They are pics of the Farm house in Brink, VA.
Taken first week of June, 2008.

Photos are courtesy of my Uncle, John Allen

These pictures are of miscellaneous buildings on Allen property.
They will have to be removed before mining operations begin this year, 2008
